The Life of Ed Warren, Ghost Hunter

Ed Warren’s lifelong career began as a child, when he felt that his home in Bridgeport was haunted. He was a firm believer in ghosts, demons and other supernatural creatures. Ed and his wife, Lorraine, would receive frantic phonecalls from homeowners across the country, seeking advice about how to deal with the spirits that wreaked havoc on their lives. One such case spawned the Amityville Horror classic.

The Warrens investigated more than 10,000 alleged hauntings worldwide. They didn’t make their money with their ghost hunting, but with the lectures they gave about the supernatural at various colleges. The Amityville haunting was the most requested lecture.

While he regularly confronted dark forces, he considered it a duty to warn the public about the dangers of playing with the occult, Spera said.

“Seven out of eight of their cases would start with people playing with a Ouija board,” Spera said. “The spirit does not have to come right away. It can come after dark to get you.”

Poor health kept Ed housebound for the past five years. On Wednesday, August 23, he succumbed. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, his daughter, two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Ghosts and the Supernatural on Squidoo

For those of you who have never heard of Squidoo, it is a site for people who love to collect information about specific topics. There have been many times when I’ve had an idea for a blog, but not enough information/resources to maintain it over a long period of time. Lenses (as Squidoo calls them) are perfect for this.

This morning, I searched through this site to see if I can find any paranormal/supernatural sites that would interest me. As you can see, I found several in the list below. This list is by no means complete, so check back for updates.

Enjoy!

American Hauntings, by Curtis Hart: Contains pictures, links and a creepy story about a murdered girl who haunted her family.

Area 51, by Jeffry Vance: You’ll find a good list of links, books, videos, etc. on this site.

Near-Death Experience, by Kevin Williams: Although it doesn’t have a lot of articles on NDEs, it has a good book list if you’re interested in this subject.

Waverly Hills Sanitorium: I created this lens because I received so many comments from visitors to this blog after I posted about the Sci-Fi Channel documentary that aired in June.

Dead Whisper Out on DVD

Quoted from DVD Review: Dead Whisper

This nicely done production from Ronald James Television (taped in high definition) accompanies members of Indiana Ghost Trackers and psychic Robbie Thomas on two interesting ghost hunts. First they venture into the abandoned and very spooky Manteno Asylum for the insane, where patients had sometimes been held against their will, mistreated and even tortured – a setting ripe for a haunting if ever there was one. Their second investigation is at Rico D’s house, which in the 1930s was a hangout for such gangsters as Al Capone, and later a brothel and biker hangout. With possible murders taking place there, spirits could be lingering.

Dead Whisper DVD

The last paragraph of Stephen Wagner’s review caught my attention. According to him, the research team reviewed the audio and video tapes for EVP and made a startling discovery that raises questions about spirits, EVP and how they exist in the flow of time.

Order the DVD at the Dead Whisper website!

Ghost Footage in Parking Garage

Is this a real ghost or a clever manipulation of film? Either way, the footage intrigued me enough to watch it several times.
