The Oldest Detailed Drawing of Stonehenge

Stonehenge Drawing

The oldest detailed drawing of Stonehenge, found in a 1440 manuscript, the Scala Mundi

The drawing, recently identified by the art historian Christian Heck, will be shown for the first time next year in an exhibition at the Royal Academy in London, marking the 300th anniversary of the Society of Antiquaries. There are two earlier images of Stonehenge, one in the British Library and one in the Parker Library in Cambridge. However, the Douai drawing is unique because it shows how the monument was built.

The Mystery of the Missing F-89 Scorpion Still Unsolved

Fifty-three years ago this month, a U.S. Air Force F-89 Scorpion jet vanished from radar screens over Lake Superior after being sent to intercept what they thought was an unknown aircraft.

On the evening of Nov. 23, 1953, Air Force sent one of its planes, an F-89 Scorpion jet, to intercept an unknown aircraft that flew over Lake Superior at an altitude of 7,000 feet. Its radar tracked the jet until it merged with the unidentified object 70 miles off the Keweenaw Peninsula, at an altitude of 7,000 feet.

Both the jet and the object vanished and were never seen again. In the summer of 2005, The Great Lake Dive Company allegedly found the jet’s wreckage sitting at the bottom of Lake Superior, mostly intact. What’s strange is that they waited a year to announce their discovery. Then, once the media began to show interest in their discovery, they vanished.

Was the CEO trying to boost publicity for his diving company by executing a hoax, or did the government shut them up? Neither would be all that unusual.

The Haunting of an Historial San Jose Ranch House

Nestled in the foothills of Santa Clara County’s largest park is an old ranch house, which serves as the park’s headquarters and museum. The house was built by Joseph Grant, the son of a dry goods merchant who made his fortune by supplying gear to gold miners in the Bay Area. He used this house as a vacation retreat and often held parties, entertaining such guests as Leland Stanford and Herbert Hoover.

Joseph D. Grant Ranch House

According to Grant Park historian Ron Brinkmont, Grant’s daughters Edith and Josephine did not get along with each other and would often get into brawls. The girls earned their reputations as hellraisers, but it was Edith who was considered dangerous because she enjoyed shooting at trespassers, including the mail man.

Today, her spirit is believed to haunt her room inside the main house. Visitors have reported getting shoved out of her room if they entered without her permission. I have included links to the sites I’ve found regarding the history and ghost investigations of the James D. Grant ranch house. You’ll find pictures of the investigation, plus accounts of what the investigators and media experienced at the house.

This shot was taken by a woman who was visiting the Silver City ghost town in Idaho back in September. If you’ll click on the link below and check out the second photo, you’ll see a definite humanoid shape to this mist.
