A Review of The Lost Room Premiere
My local paper proclaimed The Lost Room to be a combination of a poorly made Medium and The Twilight Zone. So far, I haven’t seen anything involving a psychic element. But there are plenty of ordinary objects turned supernatural that people seem to want. The most coveted prize is the motel key, which Homicide Detective Joe Miller has possession of.
Some nasty people kidnapped his daughter when he gained possession of that key. Now he is trying to unravel the mystery of these objects, some of which can inflict a nasty death or drive the owner insane, while trying to find his daughter.
I agree with the critics about the Twilight Zone comparison. There is a plenty of strangeness and mystery surrounding that motel room in New Mexico and the events that happened there decades ago.
I felt that the acting was mediocre. For instance, Julianna Marguiles was flat and emotionless, considering her character’s desperation to find all of the elusive objects. I’m not all that impressed with Krause’s acting ability, either, which was almost as flat.
Despite this, I’m curious about the objects and their meanings and will watch another episode.
