My local paper proclaimed The Lost Room to be a combination of a poorly made Medium and The Twilight Zone. So far, I haven’t seen anything involving a psychic element. But there are plenty of ordinary objects turned supernatural that people seem to want. The most coveted prize is the motel key, which Homicide Detective Joe Miller has possession of.
Some nasty people kidnapped his daughter when he gained possession of that key. Now he is trying to unravel the mystery of these objects, some of which can inflict a nasty death or drive the owner insane, while trying to find his daughter.
I agree with the critics about the Twilight Zone comparison. There is a plenty of strangeness and mystery surrounding that motel room in New Mexico and the events that happened there decades ago.
I felt that the acting was mediocre. For instance, Julianna Marguiles was flat and emotionless, considering her character’s desperation to find all of the elusive objects. I’m not all that impressed with Krause’s acting ability, either, which was almost as flat.
Despite this, I’m curious about the objects and their meanings and will watch another episode.

People who enjoyed The X-Files might enjoy the latest show in supernatural television, “The Lost Room,” which premieres tonight at 9pm EST. It is a supernatural mystery that involves a few ghosts, some time travel and lots of strange people.
One of them is Peter Krause of the popular “Six Feet Under.” Krause plays Joe Miller, a homicide detective whose daughter, Anna (Elle Fanning), is missing. While he investigates a murder in a pawn shop, he finds a motel-room key that opens doors to some very strange situations.
Tap the pencil, get a penny. Some guy did that 50,000 times a day for a few years before he went nuts.
Tune the radio to the right station, you’ll instantly grow three inches. Not all the magic powers are worthy of David Copperfield.

Kip Shelton of DeadFish Productions is currently trying to negotiate a contract with Paramount Pictures for the distribution rights of his upcoming Sci-Fi thriller, “Paranormal.”
The story involves Avery Morris, who assembles a team of paranormal experts to seek answers to the afterlife.
Together, the team travels the country investigating hauntings, exposing hoaxes, and attempting to explain the unexplainable events that they experience. Reminiscent of the film classic “Poltergeist” with a taste of the “X Files,” along with actual reported hauntings, this series is guaranteed to scare everyone.
This sounds like the reality Ghost Buster series turned Hollywood. Since I enjoyed both Poltergeist and the X Files, I’m intrigued by Shelton’s show. “Paranormal” will be featured at the NAPTE Conference in Las Vegas, NV in January 2007.

The Garden City PD chased a mysterious driver, who weaved all over the road and made illegal U-Turns to evade pursuit. At one point, the car seemingly vanished into thin air, only to reappear. Police resumed the chase until the car turned onto a dead-end road with a chain-link fence. They thought they had the suspect trapped until the car vanished as it drove through the fence.
The police tried to investigate the origin of the car, but came up with nothing. This strange elusive car has been dubbed “The Ghost Car.”
