The Winchester Mystery House, 1906

The Most Haunted Live team is scheduled to return to the United States to investigate the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, CA in a 7-hour live event. They will tour the 161-room estate with their high-tech equipment in an attempt to contact any spirits that might live there. As with the Eastern State Penitentiary investigation, multiple Web cams will stream live images from selected areas within the mansion.

TV viewers may actively participate in the broadcast by posting paranormal sightings, well wishes for the team, and suggestions on rooms to investigate, predictions and premonitions via message boards, text messaging, and faxing psychic art. Selected user-submitted content will be presented during the interactive segments of the event, as well as scrolled across the bottom of the screen during the live investigation.

The Rise of Paranormal Romance

Paranormal romance, especially involving vampires, have broken sales records over the past twenty years, according to publishing sources. Vampires have always been popular among horror readers. Anne Rice made a name for herself with her vampire stories back in the 80s and 90s. After 9/11, vampire romance boomed. Author and psychiatrist, Lynda Hilburn has come up with some theories after talking with her clients.
The Vampire Shrink, by Lynda Hilburn

“There are several theories about the increase in sales of vampire romance,” Hilburn said. “A recent view is that women feel less safe and secure in the world, and the previous symbols of strong, semi-dangerous males — our law enforcement and military warriors — were replaced by supernatural beings. Indestructible supernatural beings. Unlike the undead, real flesh-and-blood men can be killed in war or through terrorist acts. Facing a frightening daily “reality” made escaping into magical worlds, filled with all-powerful, appealing immortals, a healthy coping mechanism.”

Hilburn also reports that women in therapy are disappointed with the men in their lives. The idea of a drop-dead gorgeous guy lurking outside their windows is much more appealing than watching their husbands or boyfriends sitting in front of the television. She has written a book, called The Vampire Shrink, which involves the main character becoming attracted to an 800 year-old vampire as well as the FBI profiler.

Devil’s Bible Returns

Devil's Bible

According to myth, a Benedictine monk promised to write the book overnight to atone for his sins. When the task proved impossible, he asked the devil for help. This book, called the Codex Gigas (also known as the Devil’s Bible) is a medieval manuscript said to have been written 800 years ago. After an absence of 359 years, it has been returned to Prague, where it is believed to have originated.

Experts say that it took the monk 10 to 12 years to write that book, which contained 640 pages. 624 pages remain in fairly good condition.
