X-Files: I Want to Believe to Premier July 25

Fox Mulder and Dana Scully

It’s official. Chris Carter has announced that X-Files: I Want to Believe will open in theaters on July 25th.

“I’d say we’re trying to scare the pants off of you, like a really good episode of X-Files,” Carter says during a break in filming. “It’s not a mythology episode, but it [deals with] the characters’ lives, what they’ve been through, their relationship and the arc of the show.”

Other than the alien abduction and her subsequent pregnancy, I don’t remember too much about Dana Scully’s backstory. However, I recall Fox Mulder dealing with the disappearance of his sister, Samantha, and his belief that aliens had abducted her. Carter gave us a hint at what the show is going to be about, but I don’t know if he’s going to divulge any more details. If you’ve been following this story, you know that he’s been very secretive about this film since its conception.

Disney to Remake Escape to Witch Mountain

Escape to Witch Mountain

I’m old enough to remember watching this movie in the theater and feeling a bit of awe at watching a Winnebago fly through the air. The art of special effects hadn’t quite taken hold back then, but it was enough to impress people of that generation. Disney announced that it is in the process of remaking this classic to modernize it for the latest generation.

The biggest question I have is will these kids be impressed, after watching Star Wars and Harry Potter? I’ll be watching the public reaction once this film hits the theaters.

X-Files Sequel in Negotiation Stage

X-Files

Nearly a decade after the X-Files series ended, negotiations are in the works for a sequel. Gillian Anderson told Empire Movie News that Director Chris Carter plans on nixing the little gray aliens and the conspiracy plot which captivated millions of diehard X-Files fans. Instead, Carter wants to produce a stand-alone horror film. What this horror film will be about is unknown because he refuses to discuss his ideas with anyone, including Duchovny and Anderson. We’ll just have to stay tuned.

The Lost Room

People who enjoyed The X-Files might enjoy the latest show in supernatural television, “The Lost Room,” which premieres tonight at 9pm EST. It is a supernatural mystery that involves a few ghosts, some time travel and lots of strange people.

One of them is Peter Krause of the popular “Six Feet Under.” Krause plays Joe Miller, a homicide detective whose daughter, Anna (Elle Fanning), is missing. While he investigates a murder in a pawn shop, he finds a motel-room key that opens doors to some very strange situations.

Tap the pencil, get a penny. Some guy did that 50,000 times a day for a few years before he went nuts.

Tune the radio to the right station, you’ll instantly grow three inches. Not all the magic powers are worthy of David Copperfield.
